LONDON [ ABN NEWS ] — London’s parks are one of its great glories, thanks in no small measure to the work of the The Royal Parks Foundation, which provides tender loving care to the city’s 5,000 acres of urban parkland. With the foundation celebrating its 10-year anniversary in 2013, The athenaeum, the five-star luxury property with the enviable Green Park location, will pay tribute to this worthy endeavor by launching their Park Pleasures package this fall.

The Park Pleasures package is priced at £287 (approximately $450) and runs from September 1 until November 30, 2012. It includes overnight accommodations in a superior room and a reservation for two to the property’s award-winning tea service (which was recently awarded the Top London Afternoon Tea prize by The Tea Guide). A new tea blend called the Evergreen Tea has been designed specifically for this package. It blends a traditional English afternoon tea with botanical, floral flavors inspired by the hotel’s living wall. Created by world-famous botanist Patrick Blanc, the living wall climbs ten floors up the exterior of The athenaeum and represents a fusion of the hotel with the neighboring parks. It contains more than 260 plant types, including rare species from both tropical and temperate climates. A unique architectural landmark, the wall is visible from The Garden Room where afternoon tea is served.

For every Park Pleasures package booked, The athenaeum will make a £10 (approximately $16) donation to the Royal Parks Foundation. As a special bonus, guests booking the package will receive a special discount on The Royal Parks of London, a stunning hard-cover photography book depicting scenes in The Royal Parks, taken by world-renowned photographer Sasha Gusov. It’s available for £35 (approximately $55). It regularly sells for £55.

“The athenaeum has always been proud of its Royal Parks location.” says Simon Wakefield, general manager at The athenaeum. “This autumn the hotel will continue to ensure all guests are given every opportunity to make the most of this unique location while giving back to the foundation.”

The concierge team at The athenaeum are always happy to arrange a fun-filled day in the park for grown-up, families or friends. Popular activities include boating on The Serpentine, horseback riding in Hyde Park, tennis and much more. Discovery Days at the Isis Education Center in Hyde Park are also a must, with seasonal events for grown-ups and families alike. And, as usual, bikes, kites, jogging maps and bird seed are all provided free of charge for guests at The athenaeum.
